Our optometrists and staff at Eye to Eye Optometry Clinic enjoy building relationships with patients of all ages. We want our patients to feel they can come to us for exceptional eyewear and state-of-the-art eyecare, but not have to deal with the pretense or arrogance that often goes along with high-end purchases. Although some patients are as excited about eyes and eyewear as we are, we know many people are intimidated by the whole thing. They are uncertain what to expect in their eye exams, they don’t know what glasses look good on them, and they are confused about their lens options. Well, that’s what we are here for, and we want to make the experience as enjoyable as possible for you, maybe even a little bit fun!
We have provided information throughout this website that we hope you will find useful. Should you ever have any more questions about your eyecare, a member of our courteous, knowledgeable staff would be happy to speak with you!
Dr. Leanne Kile was born and raised in southwest Edmonton. She graduated with Honours from Concordia High School in 1989. With a desire to work with people and an interest in medicine, but also an aptitude for math and physics, the young graduate recognized optometry as a profession which combined both her interests and strengths. Dr. Kile took her undergraduate courses at Red Deer College, then the University of Alberta, and then proceeded to the University of Waterloo, where she obtained her Doctor of Optometry Degree in 1998.
Dr. Kile practiced for two years in Wainwright, Alberta. In 2000, she moved to a multi-site practice in Ponoka/Lacombe/Hanna/Coronation. Dr. Kile enjoyed the sense of community in these small towns, but she always felt a pull to be closer to her family. She returned to Edmonton in 2002.
In August 2006, Dr. Kile opened Eye to Eye Optometry Clinic, with the goal of providing personable, professional eyecare and “stand-out-in-a-crowd” eyewear. She chose to locate Eye To Eye Optometry Clinic at Crestwood Centre due to the close-knit, neighbourly feel of the Crestwood community, and because of the boutique-style shops, which aligned with Dr. Kile's goal of bringing in unique, high-quality eyewear.
Dr. Kile has been involved in eyecare missions, the Kiwanis Club, Toastmasters, Sweet Adelines and numerous church committees/volunteer positions. In the past few years, she has been more focused on opening Eye to Eye and starting a family. Within six months of opening Eye To Eye, Dr. Kile and her husband, Phil, were blessed with the birth of a beautiful baby girl, and in February 2011, they were delighted by the birth of their second daughter.
Dr. Kile enjoys the balance of raising a beautiful young family and practicing in a profession she loves. She sees patients part-time, including some evenings and Saturdays for the convenience of her patients.
Dr. Robert Eastwood was born and raised in Camrose, Alberta. He graduated with Honours from Camrose Composite High School in 1990, and then went on to complete his Bachelor of Science Degree with Distinction in 1993 at Augustana University in Camrose. It was at Augustana that Dr. Eastwood learned valuable time-management skills, balancing his studies with the demands of playing scholarship hockey with the Augustana Vikings in the Alberta College Athletic Conference.
Dr. Eastwood received his Doctor of Optometry Degree with Distinction in 1997 from Pacific University, in Forest Grove, Oregon. He then began his career as an Optometrist in Red Deer, Alberta. Dr. Eastwood practiced in Red Deer for 15 years before deciding to relocate to the Edmonton area to pursue work as a part-time associate in conjunction with a more involved role with the Alberta College of Optometrists. Dr. Eastwood is proud to be a part of the Eye to Eye Optometry Clinic team, and he really enjoys practicing in such a progressive office.
Dr. Eastwood has been involved in a number of eye care missions to Jamaica with Canadian Vision Care. He has also served many years with the Kinsmen Club of Red Deer. These days, Dr. Eastwood enjoys spending as much time as he can with his family – wife Michelle, daughter Paige, and son Drayden. You will find him and his family enjoying the many campgrounds and golf courses our area has to offer in the summer months, and they will not be too far from the hockey rinks in the winter!
